Flat Rock Archives
 
 

The Flat Rock Archives is a research center containing  records, artifacts, and historical information about the African American slaves, former slaves, and their descendants who lived and still live in the community of Flat Rock.  The archives is currently open to the public every Tuesday.  Genealogical  information on several Flat Rock families, oral histories from older residents, historical photographs, and a quantity of written material.


Nestled within the Arabia Mountain National Area, in Lithonia, Georgia, the Flat Rock Archive is dedicated  to discovering and preserving the history of our ancestors.  Visit the archives and learn about the rich diverse lives of the people who once lived, worked, and worshiped in this small community.


 


 
Mission Statement
Goals:
 Create a heritage tourism venue open to the public and researchers on a year round basis.
 Preserve and catalog historical information and artifacts about Flat Rock and it’s residents.
 Restore Flat Rock Slave Cemetery.
 Assist other communities in the research and preservation of slave or African American community history.
